Chocolate for breakfast? Sure, why not. Chocolate in its raw natural state is actually nutritious and good for you…welcome news to chocolate lovers everywhere! Plus, I don’t have the schedule in place that I do during the school year which tends to throw me off. Read the rest of this entry →

Allergies amongst children seem to be everywhere these days. I haven’t researched the statistics yet, but solely based upon my observation as a parent, the problem seems to just be getting worse. Many schools are now peanut free to accommodate children within the school who have severe allergic reactions to peanuts. I don’t recall ever hearing anything of the sort when I was growing up. It was a rare occasion when a Read the rest of this entry →

I’m no stranger to juggling responsibilities. Between having three school age children, a husband, a home, two businesses, and a variety of interests, managing to keep balance in my life presents quite a challenge. Time management skills are crucial for keeping my head above water. I’d like to share some tips I’ve picked up along the way that help me to stay focused and productive in my work, but also have enough time to do the things I love.
Keep a to-do list
I am the ultimate list maker. In the past, I would write a list, cross a few items off said list, then have to re-write the entire list because more items have popped up and, being completely anal, I cannot function when I have to look at such a messy list. By the end of the day, if I had added up how much time I had spent on Read the rest of this entry →

Kids love to get involved in the kitchen.
My 8 year old daughter dons her pink chef apron and hat, steps onto her little stool and eagerly awaits instructions, whisk in one hand, mini purple spatula in the other.
It’s beyond cute!
I’ll be the first to admit, there have been many a time when I have initially turned down her enthusiastic offers of assistance because I am in a rush or tired, but then the sight of her obvious disappointment usually shames me into including her. Read the rest of this entry →
