Blueberry Pineapple Juice
It’s that time of year again….the weather is beautiful, the kids are home from school, the work is piling up, the to-do list is growing exponentially, and the social calendar is overflowing. The lazy, fun-filled days of summer tend to be accompanied by a variety of foods I typically avoid and evenings getting to bed much later than I’d like. It’s a fun time of year for sure, but I have been starting to feel the effects of all the hoopla both physically and emotionally, so I decided this week to take a break and do a bit of cleansing…a week of only raw foods and live juices plus my daily yoga and meditation with the goal of cleansing and re-vitalizing both my mind and body.
I thought I would share this juice recipe with my readers to entice you to join me! This recipe is from the book The Seven Day Total Cleanse by Mary McGuire-Wien. I highly recommend this book; it’s chock full of great blends of tasty juices. Not only does it taste great, but it is supposed to enhance your ability to communicate. (Check with my husband in a few days to see if it worked!)
Blueberry Pineapple Juice:
½ organic pineapple
1 stalk celery
1 lemon (peeled)
½ inch piece of ginger
1 pint blueberries
In the book, the recipe calls to place everything through the juicer except the blueberries. Those should be combined with the juice in a blender. In my haste to make the juice, I didn’t read those instructions and just put them through the juicer as well. The result was a delicious juice, but I will definitely try it the other way next time I make it.
Enjoy!
